Adventures of a World Traveler…

Yesterday we joined the Australian and New Zealand Association in Singapore. Apart from a magazine and some helpful “New Members” information, we still have to see what the benefits are. Although Olivia has already made some friends through their social events. The membership is reasonable (S$60), not outrageously high as the membership to one of the Dutch Club’s in Singapore (I think the one for business men, not the normal one).

It’s one of the larger associations in Singapore with several thousand members, mostly Australia and New Zealand, but also Brittan, USA and even Holland (the ones that can’t afford the membership to their own club). The focus is on networking and socialising, creating a platform not only for the people that come here to work, but maybe more specifically their family members they bring along.

ANZA was established in 1948 and since 1961 have a full-time manned office in the city.

Sorry, I have been told by one of the members to get the statistics right. There’re several hundred (1500) memberships, but several thousand (6000) members. Apparently memberships are on family level and an average family has 4 members. But still, I’m happy to be one of the 1500 paying memberships.

thanks for that blog. it inspired me to search for the same group in KL and it exists! its called MANZA and also not expensive to join. I found quite some other groups as well, but quite some of them are geared towards non-working women. I would love to play netball with them, but on Tuesday 10:00 am – 11:00 am???

there is no austrian group in KL, and the german one doesnt have a website. I guess MANZA gets my support! (and maybe the UK Womens one…)
