Today we had an afternoon with fellow expats at Brewerkz in the city. A group of people that met through a great Singapore website and forum for expats agreed to meet for a large blind-date today. It turned out to be a great afternoon with a lot of people all going through the same thing but in different stages. All getting used to the Asian culture and climate. It’s nice to meet people from so many different walks of life, countries and backgrounds that all have one thing in common: “Adjusting to Singapore”.
There were couples from the US and France where one was working in hospitality, couples from UK and Turkey working in advertising, couples from Australia and The Netherlands working in IT. I don’t know what was more pleasant: to hear how some people are going through exactly the same things or how other people have found solutions for stuff you’re still struggling with.
Anyway, it was a nice Saturday afternoon and I think this might become something regular. Especially now I know how many people actually spend these vast amounts of time on these forums. Everybody knew each other by their nickname only, at leat it has become a little bit more personal.
