SURPRISE!!! As a complete surprise, Troy & Barbara showed up on my doorstep yesterday evening (past my normal bedtime)! I had absolutely NO idea, but Troy and Olivia arranged a surprise visit to Singapore. Troy & Barbara are relocating to Kuala Lumpur and decided to have a 12 hour stop-over in Singapore. I think they already had their tickets through Singapore as part of a planned trip to Europe before they decided to move to Kuala Lumpur.

We spend a few hours talking over a bourbon & coke yesterday and had a traditional Sunday breakfast together this morning. We went to Jones the Grocer on Dempsey Road. This is an Australian grocery store, but the one that only has special treats and which serves a good western breakfast. We had different varieties on eggs and pancakes, all very delicious. And a good strong coffee.

Dempsey Road is a great location in Singapore. It’s a little village like spot with only restaurants and bars. On Sunday mornings it attracts a lot of expats obviously, but I can’t wait to go there on a evening as well.

Troy & Barbara have left already and went straight from Dempsey Road to the airport. It’s only a 1 hour flight. We will take the bus next week (actually this Friday) and see them again. It is great having good friends in the area again. More excuses for visits to Malaysia and maybe some small trips in the region!
