The Marbella BBQ

Yesterday evening we organised a BBQ for all our friends and neighbors of the Marbella. To celebrate our 10th week anniversary in our new home, we thought it was about time. We announced the event on The Marbella facebook page which I created and before we knew, 30+ people were invited. I think most people knew at least some if not almost all of the guests, but I don’t think anybody ever managed to get such a big crowd together. We told everybody to just bring salads and bread-sticks, as we organised the meat from our favorite butcher in Chip Bee Gardens and had plenty of ice delivered as well.

Everybody that was invited showed up, except for one family that arrived back from the UK that very evening. I think the BBQ was an enormous success. Even though we all live in the same condominium, there’re not a lot of social events that bring so many people together. I can only say how important it was for us to be integrated in the existing Marbella social groups in our early days, some of the neighbours that moved in as recently as 3 days ago, will hopefully benefit as much as well.

I think we set the bar high for whoever volunteers to organise the next event. I hope everybody stays in contact either through the mailinglists or our Facebook page. Thanks again to everybody that attended and provided food and drinks. We will see you around!
