So, after ColdPlay we were looking for the next concert in Singapore and as we already played with the idea, I booked tickets to Oasis. We’ve got similar class seats and this time we’ll be joining a few friends who coincidently booked tickets right next to us. We might also have found a solution to the taxi problem, as these friends live relatively close to the Indoor Stadium. Looking forward to an other great night rocking Singapore.
*** UPDATE ***
So, we went and saw Oasis last night and I can out a little disappointed. I really felt like they were rushing through their repertoir and wanted to get out as soon as possible. Quick likely that we were out 45 minutes earlier than we did come out of the ColdPlay concert. The first half of the concert were obviously new songs from their latest CD and only the “new” fans were singing along. Only in the second half the “old” fans expectations were met with hits from the 90’s. There was no support band and no encore. I wouldn’t be surprised if the band left Singapore before we even got home. Seats were great though and other than with ColdPlay, the arena was standing only. Concert was 80% sold-out, not full till the last seat. Never the less, I left the Singapore Indoor Stadium a little disappointed and I expected more. Needless to say, we will be looking forward to a next venue and we’ll make sure we invite Marc and Lerzan again, because driving from the stadium is A LOT easier than trying to get a taxi! Thanks guys, for a nice evening with a little disappointing performance of the band.

We did go and see Coldplay perform in Singapore Indoor Stadium yesterday. Some of the many highlights were “Yellow”, where a flood of yellow balloons in different sizes was launched into the audience, “Lovers in Japan” where literally millions of (paper) butterflies were released into the crowd and obviously “Viva la Vida”. The audience was amazing as well, majority of expats I assume. But the mobile phone Mexican wave at the break I think can only be as successful as it was in Asia.
We had the 3rd best seats in the house, row 8 at the east-side of the stadium only meters away from one of the 2 extensions of the stage. The only better seats in the house were probably row 8 at the west-side of the stadium, where Coldplay decided to play one of their numbers intimately gathered around a piano on the far end of the other extension of the stage and some seats in the South East corner of the stadium, high up on the stands, where an other number was played in the middle of the audience. Absolutely amazing.
No matter what people say, this was one of the best concerts that I have seen!
A night in Singapore to remember… Now let’s go and see who plays here next!

I have just bought tickets to go and see Coldplay perform in Singapore in March after we return from our safari trip to South Africa. After all the awards they won in the past weeks, I thought it would be sold out even before the official tickets would go on sale. But I managed to get some amazing seats in the Singapore Indoor Stadium, right 8 rows from the stage. Really looking forward to seeing them perform live. They’ve been a steady companion on my journeys to and from work for the last 8 months. I think my iPod plays their albums continuously. Viva la Vida!

Tonight we saw Sir Elton John at Werribee Park Mansion. It was an extremely good concert. Elton John entertained for 2.5 hours, bringing classics like “Candle in the Wind”, “Nikita” and “Crocodile Rock”. Apparently he flew his private jet from Sydney, then a helicopter from Melbourne airport and returned the same way. He was probably back in his hotel before we came home.
The logistics around Werribee were dreadful. The gates to the park opened at 4.30pm, the show started at 6pm and Elton Arrived at 7.50pm (10 minutes early). We left Melbourne at 5pm and what was planned to be a 30 minute drive, took us over 1.5 hours. There we people still queuing up for a parking-spot 30 minutes into Elton’s performance. One small road in and one out. We prepared to leave just before his last song and by doing so, we were one of the first to leave the park and we were second at KFC just after the Westgate Bridge for a mid-night snack.
