I was looking at Google maps this morning since I read they implemented new features for transit and public transport and I suddenly noticed an other Golf Course not too far away from my home. Remember I wrote about the Queens Driving Range last year. Well, It seems that this course is even closer. Where Queens only has a driving range, Transview Golf & Country Club even a has 9 holes course initially constructed by the British Army. Unfortunately I still don’t have a lot fo time during the week or on the weekends, so my clubs are still sitting in the bomb shelter. But this course and driving range should really be walking distance.

If I did, I would go and hit some golf balls at the nearest driving Range, which is only 5 minutes away from where I live. Funny enough, that’s closer as Albert Park was when I lived in Melbourne and still I haven’t taken my golfclubs out of the bombshelter since I moved to Singapore 6 months ago. The range is called Queens Golf Driving Range and is literally in the middle of some expensive properties.

You might have read somewhere that among the 96 kilos of luggage we took from Melbourne to Singapore, there was a set of customised golfclubs as well. Ever since we moved into The Marbella, my golfclubs have disappeared in the bomb-shelter and have not seen day-light ever since. But now that the temperatures have dropped dramatically (from 35 to 30 average a day), I was kind of thinking to take them for a swing one day again.

But then I started doing some research and found out that memberships range from anywhere between S$13.000 to S$130.000 (yes, thousands). A (one) round of golf (18 holes) can cost non-members (only allowed on the course on weekdays) anywhere between S$150 and S$300. That is if you’re a local, tourist pay even more. It’s cheapest to go to Malaysia and play there. If you plan a trip to Singapore, leave the clubs at home, or in the bomb-shelter in my case.

After arriving in Swan Hill we checked into the Golf Resort of Murray Downs, which is well known in throughout the whole state. Trying to hit a few balls on the range in about 36 C was not really fun, so Barbara decided to hit the pool instead – and I hit the apartment while Troy kept on hitting the balls… ;-) Next morning, Troy and Barbara went for our 18 holes.

Played my first round of golf today at Sandringham Golf Course. Started GREAT, ended with 120… Not bad for the first time out there.
I guess I need some more practice with my new golfclubs. Mind you, I only got them last week en I only hit them one night at the range.

I was frustrating at time, but one hole I played par, so it can’t be that bad!
